<ol>\n<li><strong>Never<\/strong>\u00a0addressing an individual directly or publicly as\u00a0<strong>being\u00a0<\/strong><strong>vulnerable<\/strong>, as they may not ever see themselves as being vulnerable or may be unaware of their vulnerability.<\/li>\n<li>Treating all individuals <strong>equally<\/strong>\u00a0and with\u00a0<strong>respect<\/strong>\u00a0regardless of their age, sex, sexual orientation, race, background, nationality, religious beliefs and personal circumstances, reflecting our core organisational\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.themotorombudsman.org\/motor-ombudsman\/our-values\"><strong>values<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Recognising that vulnerability can affect any individual at any stage of life, and can be both <strong>apparent<\/strong>\u00a0to another person or\u00a0<strong>hidden<\/strong>\u00a0from view.<\/li>\n<li>Allowing every individual to share information or sensitive data about their circumstances and dispute in a <strong>confidential<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>safe<\/strong>\u00a0environment without fear of personal judgement or prejudice.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring an individual\u2019s situation will be managed <strong>sensitively<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>appropriately<\/strong>\u00a0based on any personal accounts and information provided.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adapting<\/strong>\u00a0our communication, language, channel and tone in line with an individual\u2019s needs to maximise understanding of terms and outcomes used at any stage of our dispute resolution process, and to make our service accessible to all.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Training<\/strong>\u00a0all customer-facing staff to ensure they have the necessary skillset and interpersonal techniques to assist individuals in the most effective manner.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring that we <strong>handle data<\/strong>\u00a0about vulnerability with sensitivity, only disclosing it where absolutely necessary and with consent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Signposting<\/strong>\u00a0an individual to the most appropriate point of assistance and support regardless of whether the business is
