Thanks for sharing such useful information related to car maintenance. Vehicles are nothing but machine which needs regular maintenance to run smoothly for longer time period. Fluids used in the vehicle including the lubricants and coolant plays vital role in the performance of the vehicle. Lack of such fluid could jeopardize the performance of the vehicle. So, the quality and quantity of such fluid should be inspected at a regular interval and should be replaced with suitable substitutes if necessary.

As a vehicle owner it is our first and foremost duty to properly maintain our car. Before leaving for any long journey, we should check the tire pressure and check any sign of tire damage. We must check the fluid level and top it up if necessary. The level of oil must be checked every month. Sufficient amount of antifreeze must be added to the coolant to prevent overheating in summer and engine freezing in winter. A quick inspection of different components must be done and defective components must be replaced before leaving for any long road trip.

I agree that coolant level should be inspected properly along with another kind of fluids used in the vehicle prior to leaving for a destination. The cooling system plays a crucial role in the performance of the vehicle. Lack of an adequate amount of coolant could jeopardize the vehicle. So, the quality and quantity of the coolant level should be inspected and if necessary should be replaced with suitable substitutes to prevent the break down of the engine due to overheating.

I’ve had a terrible time with buying a jaguar XF from Arnold Clark , Hamilton 2 months ago , the car was in for repairs 5 or 6 times in this space , despite going to citizen advise beaureu , and them qouting laws to them Arnold Clark still won’t do anything about a refund that I am out of pocket for I have traded the car in to Arnold Clark hillington as I have cancer and need a reliable car for hospital appointment chemo etc , that Hamilton garage never sold me a reliable car

I couldn’t agree more. Some people underestimates the importance of regular maintenance of the vehicle. The condition of different components of the vehicle needs to be inspected at a regular interval to identify and repair mechanical errors in the vehicle. Use of abnormal components are problematic in nature. Prior to leaving for a long road trip, a quick inspection of different components of the vehicle could be very useful to identify abnormal components and replace such components with suitable substitutes. Apart from this, properly inflated tires with better tread depth could produce better traction on the road surface. So, tires should be properly inflated and tires with lesser tread depth should be replaced with suitable substitutes.

Really nice article. Prior to leaving for a long road trip, a quick inspection of different components of the vehicle is really necessary to identify and replace abnormal components to ensure smoother performance of the vehicle. The condition of different types of fluids used for various purpose needs to be inspected properly at a regular interval and if necessary should be replaced with suitable substitutes. Measurement of tire pressure and tread depth is also necessary.

I appreciate your suggestion to conduct a quick inspection of different components of the vehicle prior to the leaving for a long road trip. Driving with a damaged or faulty components in the vehicle could be very dangerous. So, by conducting a quick inspection, we could identify damaged components and could replace or repair such components in time. Tire pressure fluctuates with the surrounding temperature. So, tire pressure should be inspected properly and if necessary should be properly inflated.

I’m so grateful for your advice about maintaining a vehicle. From my point of view, it is really a must that we regularly check our vehicle before and after our trips. I can only drive but all with only limited knowledge in the vehicle parts and basic troubleshooting.
